Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves and they all especially appreciated the nice meal we all had for lunch.
Members are reminded that it is only three weeks away until our District Singles so there is not too much time to relax.
Last week’s weather was not the best for bowls, so there’s not much to report on. Sunday, on the other hand, turned out to be quite nice so that brought out the bowlers. 16 took to the green and had a good afternoon and the winners of the chooks were N .Coleman, K. Brus and B. Jones. The jackpot was not won again this week and now stands at $71.00. You needed plus 5 on the 8th end.
Championships: Only one game of Major Pairs was played last weekend. That game saw Ross Hunter and Matt Reid def Steve and Brad Galvin 24-22. This was a tight game all the way with both sides not giving an inch. Ross and Matt had a four-shot lead on the 15th end, Steve and Brad fought back but it was not enough to stop Ross and Matt from winning.
Congratulations to Steve Galvin and Blake Bradke on their selection to play in the Four Rivers - Steve to play in the open and Blake in the under 21’s - well done to you both. The Four Rivers will be played at Temora this Saturday and Sunday against zone 5,8 and the A.C.T.
There’s word going around that Kerry Aston is looking for a skipper’s roll after his great effort at Quandi a few weeks ago.
Blake and Andrew could not win a game so Kerry stepped up to the plate and had a big win, so watch out all you skips.
Keep the 24th of August in mind as it’s our Presidents Day so we want as many bowlers as possible for this,
It’s a 10am start and will be 2 games of 15 ends. For Grenfell bowlers, a single entry will only cost $15.00. The sheet is out, so put your name down.
Also on September 13th and 14th there’s the Grenfell Men’s Classic 3 bowl Triples. This should be a great weekend of bowls and the cost is $75.00 per team.
