For the second year running Blake Bradtke has won the Major singles defeating Steve Galvin on Saturday in cool and tricky conditions. Blake jumped to an early lead and was up 9-1 before Steve got going and he fought his way back, caught and passed Blake and kept his nose in front up until the last few ends.
When he dropped four shots and gave Blake the lead. Blake only needed one more shot to win, which he then got. Final score: Blake 31 - Steve 29. Well done to both players - you put on a good display of bowls in not-so-good conditions.
Minor Singles: Congratulations to Andrew Armstrong on winning the Minors. This game was also played on Saturday. Andrew defeated John Grogan 31-17. This match started out to be a close game with Andrew getting an early lead but John won a few ends in a row and the scores were locked at 14-all. Andrew then put the foot down and jumped ahead and went on to win by 14 shots. These players are good mates and have only been playing for a couple of years - not that you would know. They played some very good bowls under pressure at times and I am sure everyone enjoyed it. Well done.
There was a Minor pairs match played on Friday between G Grogan and R Coleman against Ray Brown and L Ballard. Well this game went down to the wire with Ray and Lindsay getting a good start and staying there for most of the match. Then John and Robbie came back slowly and caught them on the last end. Scores were locked together at 22 all. Two shots to John and Robbie sealed the game. Nice one boys, a tight game’s a good game they say.
This Saturday, 12th July, there is a district game between Lachlan Valley and Western Districts being played at Blayney. The Grenfell players picked are G Hunter, J Hunter, P Kay, J Joyce, L Ballard, R Brown, C Anderson and K Brus. Players are advised to wear white trousers for this game. The bus will leave the club at 7.15am.
Good luck to Barry Jones and Robbie Chambers this weekend playing in the Zone senior pairs at Blacktown. The following week Barry is playing in the Zone singles at Austral - good luck to you boys and bring some silverware back.
Social Bowls on Wednesday and Friday saw a few brave souls about. The jackpot went off with the winners being K Reid, B Harris, Q Murray, A Armstrong, K Aston, C Anderson. Each received $22.00
Just a note: Quandialla has a Two Bowls Triples tournament on this Sunday 13th. Anyone wishing to enter must do so by the 11th - just phone.
Don’t forget Bowls NSW magazine is at the club now. There is some very interesting reading and results of most major matches in it - so go pick up a copy.

We only played one mat again last Friday night and, with Thelma back, she skipped the winning team of Hazel Shaw, E Gluyas and Mavis Drogemuller that defeated the team consisting of G O’Brien, Tom Hazell, Maureen Piefke and Marie Rudd to the tune of 24-9.
Next Sunday is the district AGM at Cowra so we will be looking for a couple of delegates for that day. The following Sunday, July 20th, is our Open Day and there is still plenty of room for more local players on the sheet - so get your name down now while there is still plenty of time.
With so few players on a Friday night now, news is hard to find, but we will keep trying and we look forward to more players showing up next week. Everyone is always welcome, especially if you haven’t played before.
Don’t let that bother you as everyone is friendly and it won’t take you long before you have picked up the rules and are making new friends in a sociable atmosphere. We look forward to seeing you.
