Grow Grenfell Group president Jeff Gallimore said the journey to light the silos started in June last year with formation of the Grow Grenfell Group.
The principal and the sole aim of the Grow Grenfell Group is to establish the Grenfell Lights, he said.
"We take the view that we need to give Grenfell a point of difference and by having a Vivid style lightshow across a number of buildings and the silos in Grenfell it will result in tourism increasing for the town."
Mr Gallimore said Destination NSW has estimated that every person who stays overnight in regional NSW spends on average $159 across a combination of services and items.
Mr Gallimore said tourism is an industry Grenfell needs to embrace which is what the Grow Grenfell Group has done.
Weddin Shire Council mayor Craig Bembrick said lighting the silos up and the lightshow is going to be absolutely fantastic for tourism in Grenfell, not only during the day, but also during the evening.
Cr Bembrick said he would like to congratulate the Grow Grenfell Group for applying for the funding and doing the hard work, as well as Mawhinney family for doing the art in the first place.
The lights will be turned on at the SIlos every night from sunset to 9:30pm.
