Despite the cool change on Wednesday after the rainfall in Grenfell on Tuesday the Bureau has predicted that unseasonably warm conditions could take hold this weekend with tops of 42 degrees Celsius predicted for Saturday and Sunday.
"Heat will build in the second half of this week, and appear likely to reach official Heatwave levels in some parts," a Bureau spokesperson said.
Though temperatures are usually warming at this time of the year, Grenfell doesn't normally see temperatures this warm until further into the summer season according to the Bureau.
On the same dates last year there was a top in Grenfell of 31.9 degrees Celsius on November 28 and 35.5 degrees Celsius on November 29, 2019 with a drop in temperature to 26.5 degrees Celsius on November 30.
Bureau of Meteorology Manager NSW and ACT Hazard Preparedness and Response Agata Imielska said that Sunday would be of particular concern as far as heat is concerned.
"Our next potentially big fire day would be the Sunday," she said.
According to Ms Imielska after the cool change that came through on Monday evening and into Tuesday there would be a return to warmer conditions with the heat starting to build from Thursday into Sunday.
"From Thursday we are going to see temperatures really start to increase.
"We are expecting conditions to reach severe heatwave levels."
Ms Imielska said the warmer temperatures would be for the western parts of the state but there will be broader warmer conditions across the state and ACT.
"Again, in terms of the warmest temperatures they will be more towards the west of the Great Dividing Range," she said.
From Friday the forecast is expected to be as follows:
Friday November 27 - Hot and mostly sunny with a top of 38 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 18 degrees.
Saturday November 28 - Hot and mostly sunny with a top of 42 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 21 degrees Celsius.
Sunday November 29 - Hot and mostly sunny with a top of 42 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 25 degrees.
