Sent to the start as the popular elect Western Bill was rewarded for its consistency, breaking its maiden status at start six.
A son of Western Terror out of the Stature mare Burning Stature, Western Bill is owned by Hewitt and GW Halls and TJ Toole.
From the inside of the second line Hewitt found himself locked on the inside in front of just two when the field settled but with a solid pace set up front soon settled one out four back from the leader. When Wayne's Choice (Amy Rees) made a three wide move Hewitt followed and was right on the leaders backs turning for home. Hewitt then released the brakes and Western Bill finished strongly to record the win.
