The Bureau of Meteorology's weather station on Manganese Road in Grenfell recorded 12.8mm up until 9am on Saturday morning and 0.4mm of rain up until the same time on Sunday, but speaking with locals there was a lot more in backyard gauges over the weekend.
According to one resident they received 27mm overnight on Friday and a further 13mm on Saturday.
It also appeared to depend on where you were around the area as to how much rainfall you received with residents out towards Forbes not recording as much as those towards Gooloogong or Cowra.
Just down the road in Young residents recorded over 100mm for the weekend, while the Bureau of Meteorology's station at the Young Airport only recorded 20.4mm up until 9am on Saturday and 43mm up until 9am on Sunday.
There was also a fairly impressive phenomenon that occurred in the skies near Young with funnel clouds forming leaving some residents wondering if they were going to see their first twister.
Nigel Smedley from the BoM at Wagga said they don't appear that often.
"In my 22 years at the bureau I've only seen a few," Mr Smedley said.
"A funnel cloud is a funnel shaped cloud of condensed water droplets associated with a rotating column of wind, but not touching the ground. They generally last a short period of time, and they are an indicator of severe instability in the atmosphere. That would have been a result of the broad low pressure system and associated trough," he added.
Mr Smedley said that funnel clouds are essentially the same as a tornado, however they don't touch the ground.
"A tornado is obviously more violent and damaging because it touches the ground," he said.
Grenfell received a total of 107mm of rain at the BoM site over the month of October which was just under double the average rainfall for the region for the month of 53.7mm.
The 0.4mm of rainfall between 9am on Saturday morning and 9am on Sunday goes into the November figures.
More rain has been predicted for Thursday with showers, however the rest of the week appears to be mostly sunny with temps in the low to mid twenties.
