In the lead up to R U OK? Day, Mrs Taylor, Mr Barclay and Mr Chad White (Weddin Suicide Prevention Officer) encouraged students to participate in a poster design competition.
The prize was bag of lollies for the winning LATS group.
There was overwhelming student participation with 36 posters being submitted which were displayed.
Due to the large amount of brilliant entries, five prizes were awarded. All students who contributed a poster received a merit certificate.
At the beginning of the school day students were introduced to the conversation starting theme during period one. Classroom teachers presented two short videos discussing the awareness of mental health and suicide prevention, as well as modelling the four R U OK? steps.
To conclude the day, students participated in R U OK? Day activities from resources provided on the R U OK? website during LATS. These peer activities encourage lifesaving conversations and promote support networks.
R U OK? Is working to make sure everyone feels connected and is protected from suicide by focusing on reducing feelings of isolation and rejection.
