In a statement to the Grenfell Record, garden club publicity officer Kathleen McCue said the club's hand had been forced by the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.
"With the continuing problems caused by the Covid 19 pandemic, a phone meeting of the executive committee was held," Mrs McCue said.
During this phone meeting Mrs McCue said the committee had decided to postpone Open Gardens till next year due to the current outbreak of Covid19 and also lack of response from the community.
"We just don't know what restrictions will be put in place in the next couple of months," she said.
The Garden Club annual general meeting has also been postponed till further notice (possibly into the new year) with the current Executive and Office Bearers continuing on until such time.
The next meeting in August is cancelled unless otherwise advertised.
"The Executive is reluctant to make such drastic decisions, but it's for the safety and well being of our members," Mrs McCue said.
"We hope all members have a wonderful lead into spring in their gardens with all the lovely rain we have had.
"We look forward meeting up again soon," Mrs McCue said.
