95 CUP CAKES: On Thursday September the Salvation Army celebrated 95 years since the official opening of their hall in Grenfell. Cathryn Williamson Cowra/Grenfell Salvation Army Corps Officer has been busy in the kitchen, cooking and decorating 95 cup cakes to commemorate this auspicious occasion. Each cupcake was numbered one to 95 and made a beautiful display.

Locals as well a bus load from Moyne, Canowindra enjoyed the afternoon and the beautiful cupcakes.
The Salvos "Open Door" is held each Thursday from 1pm-6pm with regular informal activities; Coffee and Tea, Afternoon Tea, Board Games, Jigsaw and other puzzles or just come along to chat, bring your craft project or meet up with friends.
Occasional organised activities are cooking demonstrations, craft workshops and guest speakers. So why not enjoy connection, conversation and community at 52 George Street in the hall behind the Salvation Army Church. Everyone is welcome.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Genevieve McLelland celebrated her tenth birthday with her parents Rob and Sooz, sisters Skye, Saskia and Alexandra and grandparents Ron and Jan at the Railway Hotel on September 4. Following dinner Genevieve blew out the candles and cut her beautiful cake.
60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY: Congratulations to Alma and Peter Brice from Narooma who celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on Thursday, September 5.
The Brice's enjoyed dinner at the Railway Hotel with their daughter Sheila.
Alma and Peter's son Dominic is married to Maria (Ewers) and they were in Grenfell for the funeral of Maria's mother Marion.
Sheila and Maria, very best friends both attended Signadou University in Canberra and graduated as teachers. Through this friendship Maria met her husband Dominic. Maria now lives and teaches in Dubbo
ANOTHER BIRTHDAY: Malcolm Stevens was treated to a special birthday dinner at The Railway Hotel on September 4.
Malcolm's daughter Debbie and Richard Ryder, his son Andy, grandchildren Blake and Brad, good friends Richard Loader, Noelene Perceval and John Gilbert were in attendance to help Malcolm celebrate his 82nd birthday.
30TH BIRTHDAY: Mitch Liebich's 30th birthday dinner was held at the Railway Hotel on Thursday September 06.
Helping Mitch celebrate, were his parents Mark and Bronwyn, his brother Josh, sister in law Courtney, their children Austin and Archie and good friends, Tim, Brooke and Will Brown.
PLAY GROUP: Playgroup mums/committee Anna Brenner, Nicole Kilby, Kristy Evers and Emily Lynch met at the Railway Hotel for a dinner meeting on Thursday, September 6.
Play Group is held every Monday from 10am -12 noon during the school term in the Grenfell Public School Hall. If you are new to town or have not been, just pop in any Monday and make yourself know. New families are always welcome.
It is hard to believe, but their Christmas break up party/fun day was on the agenda and will be held on Monday December 16.
DRAMATIC SOCIETY: The official launch of the Grenfell Dramatic Society's "Our Wardrobe - bringing characters to life over 60 years" took place on Wednesday, September 11 at the Grenfell Art Gallery, followed by the first performance of their Radio Plays - Maltese Falcon and Easy Aces. These Radio Plays will be played again on Saturday at 1pm. The following two weeks September 21 and 28 at 1pm the Radio Plays - Flash Gordon and Father Knows Best will be performed.
Kelly Luthje and her team have been very busy coordinating the costumes for this, which is an outstanding display.
Bookings/tickets $10 each for the Radio Plays are at CJ Andersons.
The Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm, Sat 10am - 3pm & Sun 10am -2pm.

There is certainly a lot happening in the next few months which is excellent as these events are very important to the economic and social fabric of our Shire.
