We had a very busy day last Friday with Caragabal students joining us to practise for the Forbes Small Schools Choir with Mrs Welsh. The choir is sounding wonderful!

A new guitar teacher, James, joined us along with Emily who will still be doing piano and clarinet. James will be taking the whole school for music and this term the students will be preparing for Quandialla's performance at the Forbes Small Schools Creative Arts Showcase to be held at the end of term.
Also on Friday, the students planted some shrubs in the carpark for National Tree Day. Thank you very much to Jan Diprose for organising our plants that were donated by the Weddin Native Nursery. The lovely rain yesterday gave them a great start to life in Quandialla, hope it continues.
Last term I attended Stronger, Smarter professional learning over six days. The Stronger Smarter program was originally developed for indigenous communities but the values and skills advocated by this program are very relevant for all students. The program teaches resilience, connectedness and self-worth.
On Monday August 5 all students will participate in Stronger, Smarter activities. They can wear comfortable, casual clothes and need to bring an artefact. The artefact will be something that is important to them such as a photo of family or an item with precious memories. These artefacts will be kept at school for a few weeks, so if it is something valuable that you would prefer not to be at school, please send in a photo of it.
On Friday August 9 six students will be travelling to Parkes to represent the Forbes Small Schools in the Lachlan PSSA Athletics Carnival. Notes went home last week with details and a permission form to come back to the school.
The Spelling Bee will be held on Monday August 5 at 9am in the 3-6 room. All students will participate in the Spelling Bee and parents are most welcomed to come along and watch. Unfortunately the second round of the Spelling Bee falls on the same day as the Regional Athletics in Dubbo, but we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.
This Friday is Jeans for Genes Day. Students can wear jeans along with their normal sports uniform on top and bring along a gold coin donation.
Tickets are now available for the Forbes Small Schools Creative Arts Showcase to be held on Monday September 23 at the Forbes Town Hall. Tickets are $5 per adult and school students are free. All the students will be performing at the Showcase and will have art work on display. Everyone is invited to come along to this evening which will showcase the many talents of the Forbes Small Schools' students.
