HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Karen Burn celebrated her '21 again' birthday at the Railway Hotel on July 24. Karen's husband Maurice, as well as her family of Kirsty and Warren Birch, Tegan and Josh Dawes, Ash and Rinnie Burn and grandchildren Hannah Birch, Shelby, Henry, Aaron and Daniel Dawes were all present to help celebrate. Karen was pleased to have a photograph with her grandchildren.

30th BIRTHDAY: Staff at Mawhood's IGA surprised Joel Gorman on Thursday July 25 with a beautiful birthday cake made by Kathy Norris. He was called to the front of the store for a takeout and was greeted by fellow staff singing happy birthday and presenting him with the cake.
18th BIRTHDAY: Lachlan Stevens was treated to a special birthday dinner at the Railway Hotel on Monday, July 29. Helping Lachlan celebrate this milestone were his parents Belinda and Nathan, his brothers Mitchell and Tyler, his girlfriend Natalie Cotter, Grandmothers Beverly Ellery and Jill Norris, his aunties, uncles, cousins and friends.
Lachlan enjoyed his day and maybe was resting on Tuesday. Happy birthday Lachlan.
GARDEN CLUB: The Grenfell Garden Club annual meeting will be held at the Hub near the Tourist and Information Centre on Tuesday August 6 at 2pm. Everyone is invited to attend and new members are always welcome.
The Open Gardens will be held over the weekend of October 12 and 13.
TORQUAY VISITORS: Alan and Julie Smith from Torquay on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria enjoyed a strop over in Grenfell in late June. The Smiths were heading north for a winter's break.
Whilst in town they were impressed with the newly painted silos, the historic railway station and surrounds, as well as the beautiful buildings in the Main Street. They also enjoyed a night out to dinner at the Railway Hotel.
LATEEFIE MELICK: For those who remember Lateefie Melick passed away on June 02
Joan Bolton OAM advises that she had kept in touch for many years and one of the daughters and her husband also had visited last year. Victor, Lateefie`s husband passed away a few years ago.
Lateefie passed away suddenly at home which has been a shock to them all, though she had been in ill health and was very deaf. She was 88. Joan said she felt really sad, as her son and family were moving back from Japan to live with her very soon.
STEPHANIE GLYNN: Stephanie Glynn came to Grenfell on April 20 for Peter Grossman's book Launch "Early Pioneers of the Weddin Shire" where her daughter Kylie-Jo Glynn received a prize for the person who had travelled the furthest distance to attend.
Kylie travelled from Perth, with her friend from Sydney Wendy Featherstone, to accompany her Mother Stephanie Glynn, who had also travelled quite a distance, having journeyed from Cairns for the occasion. Stephanie loved coming to Grenfell where her father Maurice Glynn was born. Kylie advised that her mother passed away on Monday, June 17, she was couple months shy of her 70th Birthday.

There is certainly a lot happening in the next few months which is excellent as these events are very important to the economic and social fabric of our Shire.
SINCERE SYMPATHY: Sympathy is extended to the families who have lost loved ones recently including, Katelin Lake, former residents Josie Day and Del Moriarty nee Carroll from Cowra, Michael Stewart from Blue Mountains, Raymond Harry Abbott, Thomas Alistair Ritchie, Kenneth Cameron Watt of Greenethorpe, Sally Nowlan of Melbourne and formerly of Bimbi, Shirley Therese Laundess of Young, Michael "Mick" John Kunico, and Beryl Ann Murray whose funeral will be held on Monday, August 5 from the Uniting Church at 11am. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
