The Art classes with Kathleen McCue were very popular but unfortunately will not be held again this term.
However, there will be a new and different course taking its place this coming term.
Writing
David Rumps is developing a nine week course where you can learn the basics of writing.
David was bitten by the writing bug as a 10 or 11 year-old and has had many years' experience at a variety of different genres.
In this group you will be able to learn the basics of writing, learn about some of the pitfalls, and learn much that will enable you to write up family history -or even a good short story that you can submit to next year's Henry Lawson Festival Short Story Competition.
Guitar
Guitar will be available this term and looks like it will develop into a fun time.
Teacher, Ted Franks, will be listening to where the group would like to go and will cater for those who are guitar beginners as well as developing the course to include ukulele and even a singing group as interest leads.
Definitely a class not to be missed.
Of course, some of the tried and true favourites will also be running.
Gentle Exercise
Our Gentle Exercise leader, Glenys O'Connor, has recently completed a course on the importance of balance in fitness and in preventing falls and she will be incorporating these exercises into the routines.
Patchwork and Sewing for Beginners
Patchwork continues to be popular with much fun and learning as various projects are tackled.
This group enjoys staying on for a full day of sewing every second week.
If you have never sewed and would like to have a few lessons on a sewing machine before buying your own, we are also offering Sewing for Beginners.
Thanks to a kind donation we now have three new machines to learn on.
Knitting and needlwork classes look to branch into paper and card
Knitting and Crochet and the chance to learn old rare crafts such as Tricotting and Hairpin embroidery continue to run. Also Needlework, Hardanger and Cross-Stitch continues to produce beautiful work. There is also the chance to exchange ideas about Scrapbooking and Card-Making in the Papercrafts group.
Board Games and Cards
If craft or learning new skills does not meet with where you are at, please consider Cards and Board Games. If you are not a card player already, here is your chance to learn. Experienced card and board game players will also find like minds.
Everyone is welcome
Men and women of all ages are welcomed at Leisure Group.
The fees at still only $25 per term including tuition, creche and morning tea represent rare value thanks to the voluntary work of all the group leaders.
