The 75kg gentle giant popped in to PetStock Wodonga for a wash and blow dry ahead of the Murray Valley Kennel Club Championship Show this weekend.
Owner Les Mathieson said Louis, who goes by 'Chandlimore Louis le grande' in show, had already shown promise.
"He has been in about half a dozen shows already and has done quite well including a runners-up a few weeks ago in Albury," he said.
"We show him in the confirmation section where judges pick the best dog, in their opinion, based on the breed standards."
For a Saint Bernard everything from the size of their eyes and head, the proportion of their head to their body and their height to friendly temperament and their long and heavy tail is judged.
Mr Mathieson said Louis is "quite average" for his age.
"He will bulk up a bit but his height is pretty much right," he said. "He was imported from England especially."
