We finally have some news regarding our State Pennant play-offs in August.
These games will be played from the 14th-18th and will be at the following venues: Grade 1 Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club Grade 2 Pottsville Women's Bowls Club Grade 3 Cudgen Leagues Club Grade 4 Cabarita Beach Bowls & Sports Club All grade finals will be played at Kingscliff Beach Bowls Club.
We are in Grade 4, so will be competing at Cabarita Beach Bowls & Sports Club and then hopefully, through to the finals at Kingscliff.
As stated in last weeks edition, over the next couple of months you may come across some of our ladies out and about, selling raffle tickets, 100 club entries or whatever else we can think of to help subsidise our trip.
We will be easily recognised as we will be wearing our Club uniform. As you can imagine...travel, accommodation and food is going to be quite expensive, so please don't be shy.
Any assistance you can afford will be truly appreciated. If you are a local business, maybe you have a small item we could use as a raffle prize??
Any donations would be greatly received! Also a reminder that, due to the colder weather, Saturday's Ladies days will now begin at 11am. As we need to strengthen our match fitness in preparation for the State Pennant play-offs, this will be a full game of 21 ends. Circuit training will still be on Tuesday afternoons at 1.30pm.
June is going to be a huge month for everyone. Grenfell has its Henry Lawson Festival, some of our Ladies will be travelling to compete in Regional games and our club will also be hosting the Kelly Rose Bowl Triples.
4th & 5th June will see S. Paine, A. Cutcliffe, K. Betcher and R. Walter heading over to Harden to compete in the Regional District Fours.
6th - 10th June is the Henry Lawson Festival. 15th June we will be hosting the Kelly Rose Bowl Triples.
22nd June will be our monthly meeting at 2pm.
Come to bowls, they said! It will be relaxing, they said! But seriously, lawn bowls (especially in Regional towns) is an amazing outlet for ladies of any age.
It's social, it's fun and a good source of low impact activity. It can be as competitive as you choose and as often as you prefer.
Unlike most sports, there is no weekly commitment unless you choose to enter tournaments or championships. So come and ride the coattails of our friendly little club. You will be made most welcome.
Finally, best wishes to our birthday girl of the week, Julie Hughes.

SHOOSH FOR KIDS THIS WINTER
Sporting organisations are kicking goals for kids across the state as they remind spectators, players and the community to 'Shoosh for Kids' this winter.
Twenty sporting codes and more than 1,000 clubs and sporting associations have signed up to support the NSW Government's Shoosh for Kids winter campaign, which promotes positive behaviour to their members, clubs and associations.
Minister for Sport John Sidoti said sport should be fun for kids, and everyone has an obligation to ensure it is a positive experience.
"Sport offers many benefits to children, from improved general health and fitness to increased confidence and improved coordination," Mr Sidoti said.
"But we've all got a responsibility to ensure it is a fun, safe environment for children. One of the best ways we can do this is to keep comments positive so that kids want to keep playing and enjoying the benefits that it offers."
Shoosh for Kids winter awareness week will be held from 20 - 26 May 2019. Clubs and associations will receive access to a range of free resources, including sport-specific flyers, social media posts and audio announcements.
Netball NSW CEO, Carolyn Campbell said Netball NSW believe in the importance of promoting positive behaviour and this starts at the grassroots level on the sidelines of the games being played each week.
"We strongly support the Shoosh for Kids campaign. We want to see children continue to enjoy the benefits of netball - of all sport - and the key to this is fostering positive sporting environments for all," Ms Campbell said.
Hockey NSW CEO, David Thompson said that creating a safe, inclusive and ultimately fun atmosphere for our junior participants is a top priority for Hockey NSW.
"The Shoosh for Kids initiative is an important tool in promoting positive sideline behaviour at our clubs and associations," Mr Thompson said.
"State Sporting Organisations have an important role to play in protecting our young players and officials, so it's a great opportunity for us to support a wonderful campaign."
