99TH BIRTHDAY: Jack Grant celebrated his 99th birthday on March 31 at his home in Rose Street Grenfell, surrounded by his wonderful family, neighbours and friends.

Jack's children John and his wife Sharon, Father Paul Grant, Felicity and her husband Chris Suckling, Carmel and her husband Wayne Walger and Patricia Grant were in attendance. James and his family were unable to attend, but he has since visited Jack.
Jack's son in law Giles McDonald and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and other relatives enjoyed the evening. Meg's sister Carmel and her husband Lex Govers made the trip from Canberra.
On arrival guest enjoyed drinks and savories around the fire-bucket in the front yard prior to a delicious smorgasbord held inside owing to the inclement weather.
Following the cutting of the cake, Jack gave a wonderful run down of his life in Canowindra, on the farm on Goolagong Road and his big move to Grenfell.
He thanked everyone for their well wishes and attendance.
The youngest great grandchild at the party was Sophia Neich, daughter of Demelza and Mark and grand daughter of John and Sharon.
During Jack's thank you, a call was received that his grand daughter Rebecca in Queensland had just delivered a beautiful baby boy Joshua.
Jack now has twenty one grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
BIRTHDAY SURPRISE: Who said you cannot keep a secret in Grenfell?
Wal Barker thought he was going to a surprise birthday party for a neighbour and was completely go-smacked when he entered the courtyard of the Railway Hotel to be greeted by find his family and friends with "Surprise".
Wal's birthday was March 21 hence he had no idea that this was his 65th birthday surprise.
The courtyard was decorated with photos and memorabilia by his family and a magnificent spread of Hors D'oeuvers was enjoyed by the guests followed by delicious finger food.
Helping Wal celebrate his birthday were his daughter Jessica from Canberra, his son Stuart from Wagga, his son James and his partner Natasha Batinich and her children Ariahana and Arrabella from Grenfell.
Wal's brother Britton and his wife Zelma from Grenfell and sister Debra and her husband Andrew Straun who travelled from Mudgee and his cousin Graham Barker from Parkes were in attendance.
Long-time friend Geoff Wooldridge and many of his rugby union friends also enjoyed the surprise evening.
The beautiful cake (shaped like a Resch's bottle) was made by Kathie Garner. Fun and fellowship was the order of the night and Wal thanked everyone for attending and those responsible for the surprise.
18th BIRTHDAY: Family and friends gathered at Panorama Hotel in Bathurst to celebrate Blake Armstrong's surprise 18th birthday, organised by his partner Liv Hewitt and good mate Jaydem Carter.
The theme was "Around the World" with parents Mick and Karah Armstrong in charge of the flight.
Captain Mick welcomed all on board and shared Blake's flight from childhood to adulthood.
Everyone had a smooth flight but were expecting some turbulence later in the night.
Michael thanked the ground crew, flight attendants and everyone else involved in ensuring the flight went smoothly.
A great night was had by all.
Blake is the eldest grandson of Alan and Carol Logan and Ian and Jenny Armstrong of Grenfell.
21ST BIRTHDAY: Congratulations to Bailey "Macdon" Lawler who turned 21 on April 15.
Bailey's friends Sebastian Holz, Dan "The Man" Edwards, Selwyn White, Chris "Sam" Hodges together with Casey Hewen and Byanca Curl decorated the table at the Railway Hotel with coloured balloons and presented Bailey with a beautiful birthday cake.
HAPPY EASTER: Members of the Grenfell Hospital Auxiliary Glenice Clarke and Jan Holland, adorned with their famous "Bunny Ears" and basket of goodies paid a visit to the local MPS to deliver some Easter cheer to the residents. Well done girls.
LUNCH ON THE LAWN: The Grenfell CEF (Country Education Foundation) will be hosting their "Lunch on the Lawn" on Saturday May 04 at the Grenfell Country $45 per person commencing at 12 noon through till 3pm. There will a mystery auction and fun competitions.
