Laureena and Melyndda are the daughters of former residents the late John and Nola Goodsell. The family lived at "Westfield' on the New Forbes Road where the girls grew up until they were around eleven years of age.
They returned to Grenfell for a trip down memory lane and stayed with their uncle Rod Goodsell and his wife Wendy.
They enjoyed a trip to Parkes where they caught up with their cousins and an evening out to dinner at the Happy Inn Chinese Restaurant in Grenfell.
ST PATRICK'S DAY: The Jack and John Grant St Patrick's Golf Day was enjoyed by many (Results published elsewhere in the Record). Jack's traditional "Irish Cream" was hit and enjoyed by many.
Matty McCann, Wayne Holz and Glenn Beasley (The three stooges) enjoyed the day and were out celebrating a big victory - not because they won any prizes, but because they came home in front of Farren Stevens, Ross Greenaway and Paul Gavin.
Katherine Baker and her children Zoe and Reese came to the Grenfell Country Club for the golf presentations and dinner on Sunday afternoon. The children were delighted to see dad Jono after he finished his game. Paul 'Oby' O'Brien and Scott Holland also participated the golf day and were photographed relaxing after a hard day on the green.
HAPPY BIRTHDAYS: Happy birthday to Sebastian Holz who turned 21 on March 16 and to Jack Knight who turned 17 on March 14.
The boys enjoyed and evening out to dinner at the Grenfell Country Club with their families following the J & J Grant 'Wearing of the green' golf day.
MISS SHOWGIRL: Last weekend Grace Eppelstun had the absolute pleasure of judging at the Zone 1 Final for the 2019 The Land Sydney Royal Showgirl hosted by Tweed River Agricultural Society in Murwillumbah, NSW. Grace judged with Agricultural Societies Council of NSW Vice President Peter Gooch and The Land journalist Jamie Brown. There were 13 girls from as far North as Murwillumbah to as far South as Gloucester and it was an incredibly tough decision to make.
Grace said "I was lucky enough to have the best supporters there with me - Mum and Nan (Jacki and Joan Eppelstun). I'd done a similar trip up to Kyogle in 2017 with dad so this was a pretty special trip to make with them. For Mum and Nan, it was their first time seeing cane sugar farms, banana plantations and Cape Byron (we figured if we were going that far up, we thought we may as well call in to see the most easterly point of Australia)".
LIONS YOUTH OF THE YEAR: The Lions Youth of the Year District Final was held in Griffith on Saturday evening March 16.
Three outstanding Zone winners - Jamie Mitton from Grenfell, who attends Red Ben Catholic College and representing the Forbes and District Lions Club, Natalia Burgess representing the Coleambally Lions Club and attends Coleambally Central School and Emer Spora from Gulargambone who attends Kinross Wolaroi School and representing the Orange Lions Club met a distinguished panel of Judges; Graeme Mulrooney - NAB Business Banking Manager, Jomandie Van Der Merwe - Noyce, Salmon & D'Aquino - Solicitor, Pat Zandona - Fresh Body Health & Fitness Gym owner, Tegan Le Page, Leading Edge Computers - Director and Belinda Johns - Straight Line Design and Marketing.
Following the two x two-minute impromptu questions each student delivered their five-minute prepared speech.
Natalia Burgess was announced both Public Speaking and Overall winner and will go on to represent the N4 Lions District at the State Finals in Tamworth.
The winner from there will represent the State at the National Finals at the MD National Convention in Geelong in early May.
