An elderly resident has been notified by ANZ Bank that the agency arrangements with the Post Office will cease on 14 January across regional Australia.
This means the bank will no longer have any sort of presence in Grenfell. After all the criticism at the banking Royal Commission for banks not considering their customers’ needs, here is another example of poor decision-making which is almost unbelievable. It seems all the apologies and words of regret were nothing more than show and sham. No doubt the person responsible will be duly promoted with a big fat bonus. ANZ customers can protest (phone 131314) or close their accounts. For many, the best option appears to be Bendigo Bank which has the advantage of a local branch and longer trading hours. However the Post Office will still continue to act for the other major banks. ANZ Bank has demonstrated what it thinks of its regional customers. It is now up to those customers to show the bank what they think of it.
