With Courtney leading 18 to 3 on the 12th end, it appeared a one sided game, however, as we know in bowls, "It ain’t over, till its over." Kathy started a slow claw back and on 25 ends it was 21 to 17 to Courtney, on end 27 the difference was only one shot, 21 to 20. Courtney hung on to win 25 to 23, a true finals game. Congratulations to both players. Courtney is our 2018 Singles Champion, a well earned title.
Saturday, December 15 was our Christmas Party/ Presentation Night held in conjunction with the men. Apparently, there was some misunderstanding with regard to starting time, but it was set out on the sheet next to the nomination sheet. Kathy Betcher and Sonia Ingall were the runners-up in the pairs. The medallions were presented by Rosemary Walter. President Kathy presented the trophy and medallions to the pairs winners, Julie Wood and Rosemary Walter. V.P. Courtney presented the singles runner-up medallion to Kathy Betcher who in turn presented Courtney with the singles trophy and medallion.
The men’s trophies were presented by president Andrew Armstrong, a sausage sizzle and socialising completed the night.
A sheet regarding availability for pennants is being passed out to each member, this is to be signed and returned to the selection committee by December 31. Nomination forms for all District Championships are on our board, all events close on January 21, 2019. If interested, please fill in nomination form ASAP as late entries will not be accepted.
The next meeting of the Women’s club will be held on January 12, 2019 at 3.30pm, bowls will follow at 5pm.
