The recent Grenfell Garden Club’s 2018 Poppy Art competition was part of the ‘Poppies for Remembrance’ project which celebrated the 100 year Anniversary of the first Armistice Day. The Flanders Poppy has become a well recognised symbol of this day with the rich red colour of large, but delicate petals and famous black centre.

Congratulations to Judy Spedding who won first prize in the peoples choice category pocketing herself a cool $100 prize for her entry.

The 2018 ‘Poppies for Remembrance’ project proved to be an outstanding success with feedback being positive from local residents and business owners, who participated by making window space available. In addition, congratulatory messages were received from many visitors to the town, including several interstate visitors who had heard media or word-of-mouth reports and had gone out of their way to see it for themselves.
