With twelve players present we played two mats and two games of triples. In the first round Tom, Marie and Jean defeated Thelma, Allen and Ted 10 shots to 4 and on the other mat, Mark, Pat and Anka defeated Audrey, Eric and Mavis 12 shots to 4.
In the second game Tom’s team defeated Mark’s team 11 shots to 10 and in the other game, Audrey’s team defeated Thelma’s team 14 shots to 12. It is the first time in quite a while that we have played two mats and it is quite pleasing for our numbers to keep sneaking up and we hope this continues. Hope to see you all next week.

Women’s Bowls –
These notes began on Tuesday October 16 with a trip to Boorowa for the NSW Summer League competition.
Sue, Kathy and Rosemary travelled to Boorowa Ex-Services Club. The game was played in better conditions with a win to Grenfell 23 to 8.
On Wednesday, October 17, a singles game was played between Courtney and Rosemary. This was definitely a case of the younger generation giving the older a lesson in precision bowls.
Despite Rosemary drawing shots, Courtney’s consistent on-shots put her far and above the better bowler on the day. With a win of 25 to 10, Courtney is now into the final of the singles. Congratulations.
On Thursday there was a game of social triples played. Quent, Joy and Julie played Ray, Rosemary and Julie. (Julie being double lead).
A very enjoyable game with much laughter, with Peter working on green two and the council working along the creek and five players who don't hear too well.
There is no Summer League week due to the Friendly Games at Hay. No Grenfell players nominated for this completion owing to other commitments.
Following a management meeting, it has been decided to hold our monthly meetings on the first Saturday of each month at 11am. This is because Saturday is now our social bowls day with play to commence at 1pm.
Hopefully members will come for the meeting, possibly have a social lunch and a great game of bowls. Our first Saturday meeting will be at 11am on November 3 and all financial members are invited to attend. We have much to discuss.
The members wish to extend get well wishes to Pat Reid, who is nursing a bad knee. We hope to see you back soon. Also, our secretary Sue Gault, who is having surgery in Sydney tomorrow. We are all thinking of you Sue.
Don't forget bowls on Thursday at 10am and Saturday at 1pm. Please ring the club half an hour prior to the start of play to put your name in on 02 6343 1656. R.D.

Red Knot, recent winner of the Coonamble Cup, completed the Western Districts feature double with a runaway win on Monday in the $45,000 Coonabarabran Bowling Club-Coonabarabran Cup over 1600 metres.
Taken to the early lead by apprentice Reece Jones, Red Knot ( $3.60 ) cleared out in the home straight and won by over four lengths from Miami Dade ( Josh Adams,$3.60 ) and Ima Baker ( Tony Cavallo,$41 ).

Coming from near last, the talented Sea Lady ( Greg Ryan, $3.70 ) produced a strong finish to beat Hammoon Bridge ( Mathew Cahill,$3.30 ) by a half neck with Beale Street ( Josh Adams,$6 ) in third place.
Sea Lady, runner up in the Country Championship Qualifier at Dubbo earlier this year, is owned by Rob Mathews and Wayne Martyn from Coonabarabran and until recently was trained by Wayne Martyn who is currently serving a Suspension for training a horse led from a motor vehicle.
Until returning to the Wayne Martyn stable, Sea Lady is under the care of Gulgong trainer Brett Thompson.
Back in form, Molasses trained at Forbes by Dennis Bush and raced by Danny Kotel from Grenfell, beat a good field in the $27,000 Regional Australia Bank & Ausure Insurance Cup Day Sprint Over 1100 metres.
Tully Ho and Epic Decision set the pace until Molasses ( Eleanor Webster-Hawes,$11 ) took the lead and held on to score by a short neck from Our Dasha ( Greg Ryan,$2.15 favourite ) and Under The Thumb ( Wendy Peel,$4.60 ).
