Staff and students at Quandialla Public School (QPS) were forced to temporarily relocate to the town’s Soldiers Memorial Hall this week after a fire destroyed one of the school’s main classrooms last Sunday, October 14.

The blaze took hold in the historic classroom building at around 9.30am on Sunday with Rural Fire Service crews from Bland Creek, Bimbi and Quandialla attending the scene along with a crew from Fire and Rescue NSW Grenfell.
The K12 room was completely gutted by the fire leaving staff and students to continue studies from the local hall.
Quandialla Public School principal Kate Johnson said her students are her top priority at the moment.
“We are ensuring that our students have an opportunity to discuss any concerns about the fire and that they receive as little disruption as possible with regards to their studies,” said Mrs Johnson.
“We have relocated to the town hall on a temporary basis so that the students can continue their studies in familiar surroundings, their welfare is our top priority,” she added.
Circumstances surrounding the cause of the inferno are still being investigated with QPS staff to be informed of the outcome in due course, however, it is not believed that there are any suspicious circumstances involved.
Mrs Johnson added that she would like to thank all firefighters on their outstanding response, as well as those who have offered support to the school during this unfortunate incident.
