Billy weighed in at 9 pound 1oz and was 51cm in length.
Big brothers Maxwell (3) and Edward (1) were very excited to meet little “Billy”.
Billy’s grandparents are Jackie and the late Scott Eppelstun of Grenfell and Linda and David Essex of Queensland. Proud Great Grandmothers are Joan Eppelstun of Grenfell and Janice Hunter of Young. Congratulations to all.
90TH BIRTHDAY: Wednesday September 19 was the occasion for celebrating Marty Kelly's 90th Birthday. Marty will be remembered coming from a well known George Street Grenfell plumbing family.
Marty and his wife Carmel (nee Crossley) also originally from Grenfell, have been living in North Queensland for over 50 years.
Helping celebrations at the Kelly home, along with family and friends, were Mark and Joan Stoneman (nee Ingrey) also Grenfell district residents until the early 1960's.
This occasion followed Joan's 80th birthday celebration (31st December 2017) in Townsville at which Marty and Carmel also attended.
OBE: Congratulations to Margaret Cuddihy who celebrated her 80th birthday with three outings.
Margaret enjoyed a family dinner on September 7 at “Strathurn” with her daughter Chris, son in law Ken and grandchildren Tara and Oscar Schaefer and of course with husband Bill.
The following evening Bill treated Margaret to a special dinner at the Railway Hotel.
A few days later Margaret’s friends Jenny Wells, Marie Young, Marie Cotter, Robyn Murphy, Sylvia Petersons and Nerida Feeney celebrated with a luncheon party at the Happy Inn Chinese Restaurant.
Margaret, a very proud grandparent with bragging rights, was delighted to learn that her granddaughter Tara Schaefer was announced as best dressed teen at the Grenfell Jockey Club Henry Lawson Loaded Dog races at the weekend.
BOOK SALE: The Grenfell Public Library have a second hand book sale during library hours today, Friday 10.30 – 12.30 and 1.30 – 5pm and Saturday 9.30 – 12. Everyone is invited to come in and browse the range of books for sale and remember it is a cash only book sale.
MOVIES: Movies will be shown at the Grenfell HUB with free entry on the following dates:
Friday October 05 2.30pm start, a family movie night October 13, 6.45pm for a 7pm start and Tuesday October 23 2pm for 2.30pm start. Friends of the Grenfell Library (FOGL) will be running a candy bar – no hot food allowed. Kids may bring a bean bag or cushion (Max 60 people per session). Great school holiday fun
WEDDIN MOUNTAIN MUSTER: The Weddin Mountain Muster commences in Grenfell on Sunday September 30 and continues till Friday October 05. The Weddin Mountain Muster is a five day trail ride, based at the Grenfell Showground, taking on daily rides around the Grenfell District. For more information contact the Secretary Bec Maslin: P: 0439 330 833. Residents are advised that a great number of horses will on the streets and country road around Grenfell over this time. Please drive carefully.
GRENFELL GARDEN CLUB: The Grenfell Garden Club is calling for entries in the Poppy Art Competition November 2018 – celebrating 100 year anniversary of Armistice Day. Entries are really needed and must be in by Friday Oct 5. One painting per artist of Flander’s Red Poppy on canvas 20 X 24 (50.8 X 60.9) – 4cm thick only. No other sizes accepted. Entry fee $5.
First prize $500 – People’s Choice $100. The Exhibition will be on show at the Art gallery from October 16 – November 25. Entry fee $5. Entry forms available at Tourist office or phone Chris Lobb for further information 6343 1313.
The Garden Club will be hosting their Open Gardens weekend on Saturday and Sunday October 13 and 14. Gardens will be open between 10am and 4pm on both days. Entry fee to each garden is $2. Morning and afternoon teas will be available as well as lunch catered for by the Grenfell Red Cross at Bernadette Dykhoff’s home at 62 Gooloogong Road.
