With the temperature around 12 degrees and the northerly wind that blew for most of the day easing, the 12 men taking part in Round 5 of their Winter Tennis Competition on Tuesday night enjoyed the more pleasant conditions.

Michael Mitton was in top form once again and he and his partner for Round 5, Rod Freudenstein won the round with a comfortable win of 30 games.
They won all five sets in fine fashion, 5/3, 7/1, 5/3, 6/2, 7/1- well played, Michael and Rod.
Charles Harvey and Pat Hazell were next best players winning a total of 22 games after some very close tennis.
They lost their first two sets 3/5, 3/5, then went back on the court to win 6/2, 5/3, 5/3, another fine effort.
Just winning a total of one game behind were Danny Joyce and Arnold Brown.
They lost their first set 2/6, recovered to win the second set 5/3, then found the top pair too strong to go down 3/5 after good tennis.
Danny and Arnold found good form to win their last two sets 5/3, 6/2 to give them a total for the round of 21 games.
The next best players were two fill-ins, Steven Brown for Graham Watt and Lewy Keogh for Rick Power.
They won a total of 19 games after romping in their first set 8/0 and the second 5/3.
However, they struggled in their remaining three sets to go down 2/6, 2/6, 2/6.
Grahame Edwards and Ben Walker had mixed results in their sets to win a total of 18 games.
They got off to a good start to win the first set of the night, 6/2, then lost the second set 3/5, won the third set 5/3 and then went down 3/5, 1/7.
The other pair taking part in Round 5, Stuart McKellar and his fill-in for Steve Walker, Tracey Walker had little luck in their sets.
Round 6 of the Men's Winter Night Tennis Competition will be played (weather permitting) next Tuesday night, July 24.
Spring Competition
It was mentioned at the commencement of the Winter Competition that the men will only play six rounds this would allow an earlier start for their 2018 Spring Competition.
The Spring Competition would then finish before harvest commences.
Social Tennis
Several tennis players turned up for a game at social tennis last Thursday afternoon and if the weather is fine it was hoped they would enjoy a friendly game yesterday.
Anyone looking for a game of social tennis, would be made most welcome on Thursday afternoons commencing at around 1.30 pm.

Intertown Tennis
The next Inter Town Tennis Competition match is set down for Sunday, July 29 which will be played at Forbes where the four towns, Grenfell, Forbes, West Wyalong and Temora will do battle for the competition points.
