POSITIVE BEHAVIOR FOR LEARNING (PBL)
GPS is about to begin a journey into PBL. What is PBL some of you ask?
‘Positive Behaviour for Learning’ is an evidence-based whole school process to improve learning outcomes for all students. Not just our learning outcomes but also to help nurture and develop some lifelong personal skills that we can all carry into the future and improve our overall Wellbeing. After collecting and analysing data from our school community we have finally come up with our 3 values that we felt were most suitable for our setting. They are:
“Respectful, Responsible and Resilient Learners.” A design competition for students and the community to design a mascot to represent our values was sent home with students last week.
School award system information for parents and students: Students receive awards at school and they work the following way:
* Students receive School Awards in class and when they get 5 School Awards they can cash them in at a stage assembly for a Stage Award. For infants (Stage 1) the 5 School Awards get given to Mr Cartwright who has a special box in his room students can put them into. For Primary (Stage 2 & 3) students they put their 5 School Awards in a box that is in the staffroom foyer and Mrs Joyce will then sort them out.
* When students have 4 Stage Awards they give them to Mrs Morley and the students will receive a Principals Award at the next Whole School Assembly.
* When students get 2 Principals Awards they also give them to Mr s Morley to receive a Grenfell Blue.
* One student from each class also gets a Quality Work Award at a Stage Assembly each fortnight. Their name is displayed on our notice board near the canteen.
