Two pairs finished the night, winning a total of 24 games each. They were David Mitton and Grant Fisher and Anthony Wilson and Pat Hazell. Both these pairs also played consistent and competitive tennis, resulting in close sets. David Mitton was a fill-in for Charles Harvey and he and Grant levelled two sets 4 all and won the other three sets 5/3, 6/2, 5/3. Anthony and Pat in their first set were on fire to win 7/1, then levelled the second set 4/4, won the next two sets 5/3, but went down 3/5 in a close battle against David and Grant.
Next best pair was Danny Edwards and John Walmsley who won 19 games for the round. Their sets were 2/6, 5/3, 4/4, 3/5, 5/3. Grahame Edwards and Mark Liebich battled away in their tennis to win a total of 15 games after four sets being very close. Sets were 3/5, 3/5, 3/5, 4/4, 2/6, a great result.
