GRADUATION: Brian and Helen Brown travelled to Canberra last week to attend their grandson Luke Crowe’s University graduation ceremony at the Australian National University. Proud parents also in attendance were Michael and Tania Crowe. Luke completed a double degree in Commerce and Finance. Congratulations Luke.

GRENFELL PLAYGROUP: The Grenfell Playgroup held their annual Christmas party in the Grenfell Public School Hall and surrounds on Monday December 08. Mothers and some fathers and their littlies enjoyed a much cooler day and the children were delighted when Santa arrived with a small gift for all. The littlies had a great time on Lions Jumping Castle and were reluctant to leave it when it had to come down. Two of the newest children to attend the Playgroup Christmas Party were Wes Jeffrey Brenner and Amarlie Rose Hewen. Wes, born on November 23 is the third son for Anna and Luke Brenner and a brother for Ted and Rex, whilst Amarlie, born on October 20 is the second child for Krystle and Brendan Hewen and a beautiful sister for Nixon. 

CHRISTMAS GATHERINGS: Members and Partners of the RSL Sub-branch enjoyed a Christmas Barbecue at the Railway Station on Tuesday evening December 12 following their final meeting for the year. The NSW National Servicemen’s Association- South West Slopes members and partners celebrated Christmas with a beautiful luncheon at the Grenfell Country Club on Saturday. During the afternoon entertainment was provided and all joined in singing beautiful Christmas Carols.

The Grenfell Cubs and Scouts and their families also celebrated Christmas in the courtyard of the Railway Hotel on Tuesday evening. This was in conjunction with their final raffle for the year, where only one raffle with ten draws for meat trays were up for grabs. The winners were D Williamson, C Logan, R Gundry, S Brandt, P Chown, B Stevens, J Neill (2), S Hughes, and L Evers. President Howard Hughes thanked the patrons for their support over the year and wished them a happy festive season.

COWS FOR CAMBODIA: Lorraine Ivins wishes to thank everyone who supported her fundraising for “Cows for Cambodia” Campaign. The winners of her raffle were 1st prize Sue Simpson, 2nd and 3rd Maree & Rod Neill and 4th Jenny Armstrong.

SINCERE SYMPATHY:  Sympathy is extended to families who have lost loved ones recently including; Margaret Jean Bassett, Margaret Ruby Whitty, Shirley Anne Hanshaw, Mavis Joy Stein, Joan Elizabeth Pipe, Owen Cecil Southwell and Martin Moran of Bribbaree, brother of Marie Keir, Margaret Gordon and Jean Causer. And a note off Facebook December 18: Hi folks. Sad to report the passing of Nigel Johnson on the Sunshine Coast. Nigel was the son of Clarrie and Rita, brother to Marie Hampton, Vivian Good, David Johnson. Father of Bruce, Peter, Angela, Louise and Emily. He had been in retirement for some time. He was an exceptional Pilot that last served for the Royal Flying Doctors. He survived by 5 children and wife Jenny. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
