Katie McCue, Braydon Jewell, and Katie Silburn were excited to be named the 2024 recipients of the Grenfell Gunyah Craft Shop Achievement Scholarship. The students were nominated for the scholarship by the teaching staff and finalised by the school executive based on current commitment and attitude towards school studies. Mrs Cuddihy presented the students with their awards on behalf of the organisation. Our thanks to the Grenfell Gunyah Craft Shop for their continued support of our students and our school.
Beyond the Line
The NSW Department of Education Beyond the Line Program encourages teacher education students from universities in the east of the state to experience what it's like to teach in a regional, rural or remote NSW school. They undertake a five-day tour through various school settings to learn from experienced teachers and to engage with students.
On Thursday, March 7, THLHS was visited by ten education students to experience the school. The day started with the school captains' tour and then the teacher students visited different classrooms throughout the day, spending time with our teachers and students to engage with rural learning at its best.
THLHS Show Team
On Saturday, March 2, THLHS show team members competed at Blayney Show. Our Border Leicester rams from Weddin stud at Young received champion and reserve champion in their classes.
The students competed well in their sheep handlers' classes with Georgia Petty and Jade Westman making it through to the finals in the under 15's class. Thomas Whittaker and Matilda Smithers narrowly missing out on being placed up. It was Matilda's first show, and she led her sheep well. In the opens class, competing against paid stud grooms Daniel Lutherburrow made it through to the finals, with Dana being strongly considered for the finals by the judges.
Overall, it was an enjoyable day. We would like to thank everyone who has supported our show team, especially The Mullaney family who own the rams and Tony Heathcote and Shannon Petty who have assisted with shearing, as well as Ag assistants Scott, Garry and Nigel.
