A committee to run this year's Festival was appointed at a meeting at the Grenfell Bowling Club on Wednesday, February 12.
"There was real passion, desire and determination to keep the festival going with all in attendance very positive about the festival's future," Weddin Shire general manager Glenn Carroll said at last week's council meeting.
The meeting was very successful in that all executive positions were filled with Noelene Brandt appointed president.
Vice President is Belinda Power, James Rowe is secretary and Cathy Gilbert is assistant secretary.
Treasurer is Amanda Protheroe and Assistant Treasurer is Ray Smith.
Co-ordinators positions will need to be considered by the new committee and indications are that there is a lot of interest there as well, Mr Carroll said.
As a result of the Festival being back on Weddin Shire, at its monthly meeting last week, voted to rescind a motion to hold the planned Community Drought Event at the Grenfell Railway Station on the June long-weekend.
"There was real passion, desire and determination to keep the festival going with all in attendance very positive about the festival's future," Mr Carroll said in a report to last week's meeting.
"As the festival has been reactivated there will be now no need to hold a Community Drought Event at the Railway Station as previously resolved by Council.
"This resolution will need to be rescinded," he reported.
Council is proposing to assist the new committee in any way possible to ensure the success of the Henry Lawson Festival event in June 2020.
The Festival committee was reformed at a meeting attended by between 80 and 100 interested community members.
The earlier decision to put the Festival into recess for 12 months was made after an attempt to fill all executive positions failed.
