RACE ONE: Junee postman Bruce Harpley started the night off with another well timed front running drive on the well supported Harps ($2.00) defeating Sniggihdis and Two Real by a convincing eight metre margin and a very creditable mile rate of 1:59.2.
The Well Said four year old gelding has now recorded six wins from 23 starts for his delighted owners.
RACE TWO: The second race on the eight race program again resulted in a convincing win for a very promising pacer in Bettermatch ($1.20) for Leeton trainer Col Thomas and his stable driver Steve Maguire.
A trip down the highway to Menangle awaits the Kenneth J five year old to contest the final of the TAB Club Menangle Where Horses Fly to be run on July 7 and his mile rating of 1:56.8 will stand him in good stead.
The placing of Killara Kaos and previous Canberra winner Kettering Girl were also impressive with the judge posting a narrow neck winning margin to the winner.
Bettermatch has the impressive record of seven wins from nine starts with one minor placing.
Nice to see board member Bill Ellis on hand to present the trophies to both heat winners.
RACE THREE: A series heat of the Club Menangle Country Series was the third race of the night and again another favourite kept punters warm with Bernie and Douglass Hewitt sending out Taylor Hood ($2.50) and in doing so defeating Lucky Lyla and recent Young winner Lettuce Pray in a mile rating of 1:59.0.
The win was his fifth for his many owners and again a trip to Menangle on July 7 will be on the short list for the Robin Hood gelding.
RACE FOUR: The resident course tipster was on the ball when One Hell Of A Ride ($5.80) made a bold mid race move in race four to record an 11 metre win over Studleigh Kristen and Daylight Robbery in a mile rating of 2:01.1.
The previous eye catching form of the winner at Goulburn and Canberra in recent weeks was the catalyst for the confident prediction and it was certainly the icing on the cake for those who braved the cool conditions on the night.
RACE FIVE: Trainer Jimmy Brown was out to prove that last weeks win by Arctic ($2.20) was no fluke with another impressive performance in race five.
In a similar run race to last week the Artesian seven year old gelding came from a trailing position, fifth at the bell and circled the field to record a 21 metre win over Spooky Dreams and Harrison Paul in a mile rating of 1:59.1.
The climate at Winsome Lodge seems to have reinvigorated the veteran of 128 starts and his form is expected to continue for some time to come.
RACE SIX: Leeton trainer Wayne Sullivan won the first of what was to be a winning double on the night when Tactical Response ($4.10) led at the bell and recorded a head winning margin over Blaster Ranger and Nifty Studleigh in race six.
Having been unplaced in a much harder race at Menangle last start, the two year old ran up to his ability in recording a slick 1:59.3 mile rate to post his second win in his short career.
RACE SEVEN: Again favourite backers were spot on with the Gemma and Matt Rue combination bringing home the bacon with Renee Dale ($2.60) in race seven.
Leading at the bell and coming home in 29.09 and 29.0 and a mile rating of 1:59, the Lincoln Royal filly defeated Esther Burns and Three A Charm and certainly has more wins in store for her owners.
RACE EIGHT: The final race of the night gave another win to Leeton trainer Wayne Sullivan when Rockinfeelgood ($4.80) ran an honest race to come from fourth at the bell to defeat Multi Score and Smiling Sam.
Race favourite Karloo Bentwofifty ($1.30) became unbalanced on the firs tturn and lost all chance of catching the field finishing last. The first quarter of 29.1 and a run home in 29.5 was enough to secure the major end of the purse and give the three year old winner her fourth win from 13 starts.
Young will race again next Tuesday night 27th June with the feature race being the Nic Dewar Memorial NSW Rising Star Heat over 2100 metres.
