After an overnight low of 14 hot and sunny conditions are expected today with winds eat to north east betwen 15 and 20km per hour.
There is no relief expected over the weekend with a top of 41 degrees forecast for Saturday and 39 degrees on Sunday and then 38 degrees on Monday.
Tuesday will offer marginal relief with a top of 36 degrees expected.
While it has appeared hot this Summer the actual case is that to date Grenfell has experienced just four days of over 35 degrees temperature this January.
The hottest day saw the temperature climb to a stifling 42.3 degrees on Sunday, January 7.
The 35 degree mark was also topped on January 5, 6 and 12.
Just 10.2mm of rain has been recorded up until 9am Thursday.
Meteorologist Jonathon How from the Bureau of Meteorology's National Operations Centre said residents will see the heat start to build due to a high pressure system directing hot northerly winds.
Mr How said the heat would linger over central western NSW well into the weekend and could last for a few days.
Compared to the heat wave in the first week in January Mr How said we wouldn’t be seeing the same level of temperatures this time around.
“It will be hot but not as hot (as it was in early January),” Mr How said, and “winds won’t be as gusty”.
