Little did Abbey know that things were about to get a lot more exciting.
As soon as the group arrived at the dam, Sean was called out on a Rural Fire Service fire call.
This was a ruse for what was about to transpire.
Minutes later, a siren was heard which seemed to be coming closer to the dam.
Aided by his friend and RFS colleague, Kevin Douglass, Sean, in his RFS gear, jumped out of the fire truck and rushed over to his girlfriend.
He pulled a small box out of his uniform pocket and opened it to reveal an engagement ring. He then asked Abbey to marry him, with her favourite song, ‘Perfect’, by Ed Sheeran playing in the background. Of course, she responded favourably.
All the picnic food was forgotten as the initial tears gave way to a flurry of hugs, photos and phone calls as Abbey and Sean shared the happy news with family and friends.
Sean King is the eldest child of John and Leslie King of Grenfell.
John was unable to be at the picnic due to work commitments but Sean and Abbey visited him at work to tell him the exciting news and he shared a congratulatory glass of champagne with the happy couple at tea that evening.
Abbey Crozier is the youngest child of Michael and Rachel Crozier of Tumbarumba.
They were delighted with the news. Sean and Abbey will be married in Tumbarumba sometime in 2019.
Many thanks are extended to the Weddin Headquarters RFS for helping to organise and get permission for this event to take place and to Kevin Douglass, in particular, for all he did to help Sean to propose in such a unique way! Congratulations Abbey and Sean.
VISITORS FROM THE PHILIPPINES: Bill and Marie Rudd had the pleasure of having their son, Daryl and his family, Jocelyn, Samantha and Natalie from the Philippines during December including Christmas.
Bill and Marie travelled down to Bulli to welcome the visitors from the Philippines and then after spending a week with daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Darren Pyers, they travelled back to Grenfell, then on Sunday, December 10, drove over to West Wyalong where Daryl had the opportunity to catch up with many of his cousins at a luncheon at the RSL Club.
The family all spent Christmas Dinner at the Royal Hotel's sumptuous smorgasbord.
While at Grenfell, Daryl also caught up with several of his school mates.
During the hot weather, the visitors spent some time cooling off in our new swimming pool and were very impressed with the facility.
Bill and Marie also had visitors this week. Granddaughter, Lisa Brown and her friend Laurie Brown (no relation yet!) from the Central Coast spent an overnight visit as well as, grandson, Jason Brown and his family, Julz, Charlotte and Aria from Port Macquarie.

“Our loss will be their gain and may God bless and keep you in your journey of faith,” Terry said.
Fr Pale thanked everyone for their good wishes and gift.
