The Christmas meeting of the Grenfell Combined Probus Club was celebrated on Monday, December 11, 2017 with dinner at the Grenfell Bowling Club.
President Les Schaefer welcomed 69 members who were asked to stand for a Minute Silence in memory of Margaret Whitty.
Ron Huckel said Grace and Rosalie White, Social Secretary, read out birthdays and wedding anniversaries for the month with Margaret Thorncraft being the recipient of the Lucky Birthday Draw. New member June Waters was welcomed to the Club and presented with her badge by President Les.
Travel Officer Nola Nobes reminded members that the $200 deposit p.p. for the 5-day Central Coast Tour in 2018 is due to be paid at the January meeting and the remainder at the February meeting. This tour leaves on Sunday 25th March, based at Ettalong Tourist Beach Resort with a total cost of $825 p.p. ($945 single). Highlights will include the Hawkesbury Riverboat Postman Cruise, historic Maitland Gaol, driving tour of Newcastle, Brisbane Waters Cruise and feeding the pelicans at The Entrance.
On Sunday 18th March Loaders have a tour to Scots College, Bathurst for a Highland Gathering, costing $60 p.p. which includes morning tea and coach travel and bring or buy your own lunch. Members of the public are invited to contact Loaders if they are interested in joining this trip.
Joan Eppelstun cut our Christmas Cake which was made and decorated by Coral Mitton.
Lucky Door Prizes, provided and organised by Joan and Coral, concluded an enjoyable Christmas celebration.
President Les expressed thanks to all involved in the preparation, to the caterers and to Joan Eppelstun and her helpers Allen and Beverly Kelly for table decorations, and wished everyone a Happy Christmas.
Membership fees of $25 p.p. in an envelope, please, are due at the January meeting.
