WELCOME BACK: Wendy Bean, her sister Sue Georgevits and her husband returned to Grenfell last weekend.

Following the passing of their parents Milton and Joy Bean nee Stein, the girls were in Grenfell to finalise the sale of the family home.

Whilst here they presented the Grenfell Jockey Club with  a trophy; The AWA Fisk Radiola Cup presented by Tresillian  & Dun (Grenfell) Ltd, Grenfell Police and Citizens Spitfire Fund  Gymkhana 7th May 1941, a painting of their horse “Sylvester” and an old photograph of members of the Committee of the Grenfell Gymkhana Club 1934-35.

70TH BIRTHDAY: Bev Kennedy who turned 70 on October 17 was treated to a very special birthday last Saturday October 21 at the Happy Inn Chinese Restaurant with her husband John Kennedy and her extended family.

Earlier in the day a special “High Tea” was held at Pam Livingstone’s beautiful “Stay Leaves” in Weddin Street.

Bev was overwhelmed by the family who came to celebrate with her, including her sister Chris and her husband Richie Kirk who travelled from WA, her sister Anne Dodds, her brother Warren DeClouett and his wife Monica were up from the South Coast and her sister Kate DeClouett from Grenfell were all in attendance as well as her daughters Donna Smith (Grenfell) and Michelle and her husband Chris (South Coast).

Others to attend the special evening were her nephew Christian and Melissa DeClouett, grandchildren  Kye Smith, Karen, Jake, Dane, Sam, Jocelyn, Krystal, Aaron, Amanda, Shane, Layla, Jamie, Lee, and  Brodie and great grandchildren  Mackenzie, Lachy and Noah.

Deb Williamson and her daughter Lauren also enjoyed the night.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY: Tom Knight celebrated his birthday on Tuesday evening at Fettlers Restaurant with his wife Barbara, son David and his wife Bec and their children Hugh and Charlie, his daughter Carolyn Davies and her daughter Stephanie. Good friends Ian and Barbara Jones joined the family for dinner.

MELBOURNE CUP LUNCHEON: The Australian Red Cross Grenfell Branch will be hosting their annual Melbourne Cup Luncheon at the Grenfell Country Club on Tuesday November 07.

CAN ASSIST YELLOW DAY: Come along and join Rowie at the Can-Assist Melbourne Cup Yellow Day at the Criterion Hotel.

Michelle has organised a monster raffle with lots of prizes – tickets $5 each or 3 for $10 as well as a 100 club with prize money of $500 with tickets at just $10 and sweeps and there will be a prize fir the best “Yellow outfit”.

HON LAY CANON: On Friday October 06 at St Saviour’s Cathedral Goulburn, Jill Hodgson was invested as an Honorary Lay Canon of the Cathedral by Bishop Stuart Robinson, Diocesan Bishop.

 The citation on the certificate reads ‘In recognition of her ministry to the Diocese through outstanding leadership and service with the Anglican Historical Society as a Committee Member and Tours Officer and her work in rural parishes especially the Parishes of Boorowa and Young.’

This honour is conferred on up to three lay persons in the Diocese each year in recognition of their outstanding service to the Church and Diocese.

Jill has been a licensed lay minister in the Diocese for over 30 years and on the Committee of the Anglican Historical Society for 20 years.

The ceremony took place at the Synod Eucharist marking the start of this year’s synod. A memorable service where Jill was joined by close relatives.
