This should be a competitive days footy as the Rams are the form team in First Grade and are strong in League Tag and are having a good comeback season in Youth League. As of Wednesday the third state of origin double had not been claimed with the holder of ticket number 39 entitled to the $200. Goannas back in winner’s circle with big win over Binalong: The Goannas went into the match well down on numbers with six players out due to work and injuries. The Goannas called on 3 youth league players Alex Abbott, Sebastian Holz and Bailey Lawler to step up and all three played important roles in the win and gave the side a real boost. Captain Coach Phil Ingram led the way, Phil played his best game of the season and led the side well scoring two tries and kicking plenty of goals. The Forwards led by Josh Liebich were a bit too classy for the Binalong Brahmans. Grenfell’s reserve bench of Alex Abbott and Mark Horne had plenty of time on the paddock and gave the side a lift when they came on. Stephen Ingram, Nick Collett, Brendan Hewen, Sam Ingram, Shannon Lee and Stephen Taylor all crossed for tries giving the Goannas a commanding lead that would never be reeled in. Josh Edwards gave the side good service and picked the right time to run making plenty of metres. Chris Hodges also played strongly Chris is getting better with every game. The Binalong side had a real dip in the second half they put together a good fifteen minute passage scoring 3 tries, a couple big calls from the referee kept Binalong on a role but Grenfell slowly turned it all their way and pulled away with the win, final score 54 to 18, a good effort from the boys going into the match short on numbers, the side lifted to the challenge and scored a well deserved win. Players player went to Captain Coach Phil Ingram.
Girlanna’s keep good run going with solid effort against Binalong: The Girlanna’s went into this match with five players unavailable but were still able to come away with a solid win. The Girlanna’s started with plenty of possession, their defence was good keeping the Binalong girls trapped in their own half for the first ten minutes. The Girlannas got back to the basics and they slowly turned things around picking the right time to run and pass this resulted into points. Holly Bowerman scored first, Holly ran onto a well timed pass that had her charging toward the try line, Amanda Livingstone missed the conversion and Grenfell led 4 nil. The Binalong girls tried hard but couldn’t make much head way, the pressure the Girlannas were putting on them ended in errors. Holly took the ball 30 metres out and with a couple of side steps left the Binalong girls grabbing at thin air, Holly scored her second, Amanda added the extras and Grenfell led 10 nil. Chelsea Anderson was playing out of her skin, she scored two tries from backing up kicks and breaks that her team mates made, she played a big part in the teams win. Binalong tagged a lot better in the second half and slowed the scoring down but never really tested the Girlannas line. Caitlin Dixon caught the marker napping and raced 50 metres to score beside the posts, Amanda converted, final score 24 to nil. Player’s player was Chelsea Anderson.
