Following the success of the Grenfell Amateur Swimming Club swimmers in the pool at the Mountains and Plains Swimming Club Championships held in Parkes in February, Mikayla Hughes and Tom Robinson were selected in the Mountains and Plains swimming team to participate at the Brophy Swimming Championships at the AIS on Sunday 22 March.

With over 300 swimmers, representing seven districts from across rural NSW and the ACT, competition was very strong. Both Mikayla and Tom had very full cards. Mikayla competed in the girls 8 years and under category, swimming to 50m freestyle (5th), 50m backstroke (8th), 50m butterfly (5th) and 50m breaststroke (10th), swimming PB’s in all 4 events. Tom swam in the boys 12 years events, competing in the 50m freestyle (8th), 50m backstroke (5th), 50m butterfly (5th) and 50m breaststroke (8th) also posting PB’s in all events. Tom was also a member of the 12-13 years boys 4 x 50m freestyle and medley relay teams and the 8 x 50m boys all age relay team, gaining 4th place in all three relays.
