We are structuring our whole weekend around a fantastic time for all levels of riders. We are offering for the first time to the Bumbaldry calendar 5km and 10km introductory rides to join our 20km, 40 & 80km events. These new distances will be a fantastic chance for anyone wanting to come ride in some lovely bushland, learn all about our sport and meet some like minded and friendly people.
Introductory/social rides (5km, 10km, 20km) - will be on Saturday 21st and will start at approximately or shortly after 2:30pm. At an endurance ride, no matter what distance you enter, you need to present your horse to a vet. Your horse will have their heart rate, temperature and respirations taken and noted down. You then need to take your horse for a trot for the vet to assess for lameness. The vet then gives you thumbs up to go off and do the ride. Please allow for plenty of time to arrive, set up, enter and vet your horse before the expected start time.
Once you have gone off and had a wonderful time on track you will come in and present to the timing tent. They will give you a time slip. You then proceed to camp, give your horse a drink perhaps, a wash and feed and then you must again present back to the vet, with in 30minutes of arriving back to the ride base from your ride. The vet will check your horse over and hopefully you will be heading back to camp with a big smile. J
Our Training ride (40km event) will start at 2pm Saturday. At 2:15pm our 20km riders and horses will set off to enjoy their course. 2:30pm will see the 5kms and 10km event start.
Sunday will see the major event. Our 80km rider and horses head out to enjoy our fantastic country side. We have access to some wonderful country thanks to many generous property owners whom we are forever grateful to. Without property owners allowing us access we would not be able to run such an event. Thanks again, you all know who you are.
We will also be holding our 40km training ride again on the Sunday morning at 7am and the social 20km event also will start at approximately 10am. Please read information above re vetting if you would like to participate in Sunday’s social ride. We have held off the start time to allow for those who would like to float in on Sunday morning. Please be mindful whilst you drive in, we may have horses on roads and allow plenty of time to enter and vet.
Come and join us for a weekend of riding in the beautiful hills of Bumbaldry. With the course travelling over quiet dirt roads and sandy trails, through open paddocks and shady bushland, through some rocky picturesque country; arriving back at a spacious tranquil ride base.
Helmets with Australian approved standards must be worn at all times while riding. Horses must be over 3yrs old to compete in our 5km, 10km and 20km rides. They need to be over 4.5yr old to compete in our training rides. Over 5yrs old to compete in our 80km main event.
There will be portable toilets on site, but no showers. A canteen will be operational over the weekend for sandwiches and cold drinks. PIC numbers are required upon entering the property and entering. Please contact us to explain temperature logs you will also need.
The country of Bumbaldry can go from beautiful and sandy to rocky and rough underfoot in a heartbeat. Riders need to ride to the conditions and be aware of same. Our shorter distances have been looked after with the better type tracks under foot that we have available. Riders will still need to be mindful of any rough areas.
Please look us up on Facebook by typing Bumbaldry or LERC into your Facebook search bar. If you have any questions leading up then please don’t hesitate to contact us. Our email is lerclub@yahoo.com if this is more convenient.
Our rides rely heavily on volunteers and we are forever grateful to them for donating their time to come and help. Please remember to thank them for being there for you!! If you or your business would like to sponsor any of our rides then please contact a committee member. Sincere thanks in advance for helping LERC our not for profit organisation become able to make weekends like this possible. On behalf of LERC, please come along and enjoy yourself.
