The Quandialla Centenary Celebration will be getting off to an energetic start on Saturday the 4thof October, with a Bush Dance. The doors of the Quandialla Soldiers Memorial Hall will open at6.30pm to the music of the well-known November Shorn Bush Band. The famous central western bush band, formed in 1981 is celebrating its 30th anniversary this month and continues to be in very high demand.

The makeup of the band has altered since it began with seven members. The four current band mates each play at least five different instruments with the didgeridoo being very popular with the crowds. This talented group performs a unique style of music, mostly traditional Australian bush music with some original songs and a mix of Scottish and Celtic music.
The toe tapping music has a very infectious quality which pleases everyone. Don’t be surprised when the dust starts to rise as the floor of the old hall shakes beneath your feet.
Entry to this long awaited event is a very reasonable $10, with preschoolers being only $5 and families $40. This is a BYO event with supper being served at interval, so bring along a plate to share. During the interval the Quandialla Centenary Quilt will be unveiled and lucky door winner announced.

“Pavlovas in the Dust” the great Quandialla Pavlova Race
Don’t miss this wacky and unique event at the Quandialla Centenary Celebrations on Sunday 5th October. A 3pm start will see teams representing Quandialla, Bimbi, Bland and Morangorell rise to the occasion, endeavouring to take home the prize-money and be crowned “Pav Racing Champions of 2014”.
Mixed teams of five will contest the event down Quandialla’s main street, starting with 3 empty mini-pavlovas on a “tray” and building the pavs to completion while swapping runners, negotiating an obstacle course, and all the time trying not to drop anything. Oh, and of course it has to be done in the fastest time. Sounds simple, sure is. Sounds like fun, you bet, and with a few added twists it’s sure to be something to be remembered.
So put it on your to do list to be there and see the fun. 3.00 pm Sunday 5th October at the Quandialla Centenary.
