Cowra Tourism Corporation has partnered with the Cowra Wine Show Committee to coordinate the marketing of the weekend events and to assist with ticket sales.
"The Cowra Wine Show is one of Australia's largest wine shows and offers broad appeal whether you are a serious wine connoisseur and collector or simply enjoy a tipple every now and then," said Tourism Manager Arabella Fingleton.
Reports from the Cowra Wine Show Committee say entry numbers are up on last year with a number of new classes introduced.
"We've been delighted with the quality of the wines entered and the terrific examples of regionality and variety" said Cowra Wine Show President, Peter Jeffery.
The main event this weekend is the Public Tasting and with over 1,500 wines to taste there's something for wine lovers of all levels.
The Public Tasting allows everyone to sample the newly awarded gold, silver and bronze medal winning wines alongside wines that may not normally receive a lot of attention. Trophy winning wines, sparkling, dessert and fortified wines will be poured by stewards and guest numbers are capped, with still some tickets available.
Cowra Tourism has coordinated fringe events for the weekend to ensure visitors have the greatest opportunity to enjoy Cowra's fantastic cellar doors, delicious produce and talented artisans and artists.
There's a lot to do to keep everyone entertained throughout the entire weekend.
The fringe events include Kalari Wines' Nordic Platters matched with Kalari wines, Swinging Bridge@The Quarry lunch, a Tour and Tasting at Rosnay's Organic Farm and Vineyard and Gourmet Markets and Recovery Brunch at The Mill on Sunday morning.
"We are also proud to announce a very special event this year. The Visitor Information Centre will host a free public tasting of the nations newly awarded 'Best Organic Wine - Australia' between 2pm - 4pm on Saturday afternoon," said Ms Fingleton
Local organic winery, Pig in the House was presented the inaugural award for their 2012 Pig in the House Cabernet Sauvignon earlier this month.
"This is a fabulous result for our local wine industry and it helps to promote the region as a 'must see and experience' destination for food and wine. This award and events such as the Cowra Wine Show present a tremendous opportunity for visitor growth which benefits our members and local businesses," said Ms Fingleton.
Cowra Tourism Corporation would like to thank the major sponsor of the 2014 Cowra Wine Show Weekend, Optimal Pharmacy for their support of the Cowra Wine Show Fringe events.
"The support from Optimal Pharmacy is critical to the success of our events. It allows us to deliver a fully integrated marketing campaign promoting the event via TV, radio, online and print and encourage greater visitor numbers."
"We encourage all businesses, it doesn't matter if you are a fashion retailer, cafe or tourist attraction to take advantage of this weekend and capitalise on the number of visitors to town."
"The team at Cowra Tourism works hard to promote the region and lure external dollars that bolster our local economy," finished Ms Fingleton.
Tickets are $50 per person and are available at the Cowra Visitor Centre.
