Not much to report for the men golfers last week. Our lady golfers conducted their annual open tournament on Sunday, a pleasing number of 42 took part in beautiful sunny weather and results will be in the Lady Golf News.
Another great event took place at our club on Saturday night, the Junior Rugby League’s Mic Night, standing room only I’m told. Congratulations to all involved in these two events, the club appreciates your efforts.
For the men golfers the main event played was on Saturday, August 17, a stroke round and eight players participated.
Farren Stevens had a great round of 63 nett and no doubt lost a stroke or two. In 2nd place was John Grant on 65 nett and Barry Bradtke had 66 nett to be 3rd. These three place getters won balls in the ball competition and John won two more by being nearest the pin.
The only other competition played last week was on Wednesday, August 14 when nine players tee’d off for the usual stableford. The scores reflected the good conditions with Peter Harris returning the best 39 pts, Brian Brown was next best on 38 pts and Paul Taylor came 3rd on 37 pts. Balls in the ball competition went to Parr, Brian, Paul and Max Barr 35 pts and the nearest the pin was Peter Mawhinney.
The footy tipping competition leaders have not changed with Greg Oliver still the best on 223 pts, Joel Conron is 2nd on 219 pts and Steve O’Byrne next best on 218 pts.
For the juniors it’s A Joyce -208, C and T O’Byrne 206, and J Mawhinney 3rd on 204. The programme for this week has a Stableford scheduled on Saturday August 24 and a stroke for Sunday August 25. And of course, on every Wednesday we play a stableford, hit off 12-30pm to 1-00pm, relaxed game and everyone welcome.
Duty members for this Sundays Meat Market are Freuin Forsyth and Grant Simpson.
