70th WEDDING ANNIVERSARY: Congratulations to Nancy and Lance Logan who were married on August 30, 1951. The traditional gift for 70 years of marriage is something Platinum. In its role as a 70th anniversary gift, the metal symbolises the strength, rarity, endurance, and purity of true love. This certainly is so true of Nancy and a Lance.

Celebrating this milestone in "Lockdown" was a little difficult, but many phone calls and cards were received from family and friends. Congratulations were received from Queen Elizabeth ER, Gladys Berejiklian Premier of NSW and Steph Cooke MP Member for Cootamundra which really topped off Nancy and Lance's special 70th wedding anniversary- So special for them.
WELCOME HOME: Wezley Makin and Katie Blundell recently returned from Dubai where they were working at an International School
The couple met in Canberra before heading to the UAE in 2018.
Wezley and Katie who are teachers were eager to travel and experience working at international schools.
While living in Dubai they were able to spend their breaks travelling to their bucket list of destinations including Paris, Rome, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Germany, Spain, Africa and many more.
The first two years were a whirlwind of travelling, teaching and experiencing the best of what Dubai has to offer. It was one special night in October, celebrating two years together at the Address Hotel that overlooks the Burj Khalifa when Wezley proposed.
Now returned to Grenfell the couple will plan a wedding for April next year.
BIRTHDAYS: Belated birthday celebrations for Glen Ivins and Dave and Ian Armstrong were held last Sunday when lockdown restrictions lifted.
Ian, Jenny and Dave Armstrong, Glen and Tracie Ivins, Denise and James Fennell, Jenn Graham and Terry and Deidre Carroll, enjoyed and informal sausage sizzle, salad, slice, sips and birthday cake outside around the huge firepit surrounded by the beautiful golden Canola, green fields and the wonderful Weddin Mountains as a backdrop at "Brentwood". Oh! the serenity!
GREEN AND GOLD: Owing to the Corona Virus restrictions, the Grenfell Jockey Club is disappointed that their annual springtime Henry Lawson "Loaded Dog" and Grenfell Cup Day has been cancelled again this year. Although Weddin Shire is out of lockdown, many of the surrounding LGAs are not.
The club is bitterly disappointed having to reach this decision as the track and surrounds are in beautiful condition following the wonderful rain. The Canola in full bloom looks amazing. The club was also looking forward to showcasing their newly refurbished canteen facilities, as well as the new Ladies/Gents/ Disabled amenities block. Hopefully 2022 will be a much better year for everyone.
FLORA: Weddin Shire has some magnificent native orchids plants flowering now including Waxlip (Glossodia spp) and Donkey (Diuris spp) Orchids. Many thanks to Jenn Graham for these outstanding photos. And not a bird in sight - this time.
SINCERE SYMPATHY: Sympathy is extended to the family of former Grenfell resident; Robert Joseph Hobson, following his passing on Sunday August 15. Robert was the much loved and never forgotten husband of Elizabeth (Betty Atkins of Grenfell). Father of Kerry and Phillip. Grandfather of Jessica, Laura, Tyler and Teagan.
Sympathy is also extended to the family of Shirley Grace Dawe aged 78 years. "Grace" late of "Yerowie", Greenethorpe passed away on Saturday September 04 at Southern Cross Care Young. Adored mother and mother-in-law of Donita, Rodney and Gemma, Leonard and Trevor, Loving grandmother of Kiara, Rodney, Siobhan, Sara, Isabelle and Brigette.
