During the March Weddin Shire Council meeting Director of Engineering Jaymes Rath presented an update on the Main Street upgrade and where work is currently at.

"Works installing the stormwater in Stage 1 of the Project are approaching completion," Mr Rath said.
"Stage 2 - adjacent to the roandabout at Forbes Street - will commence mid-March."
According to Mr Rath over the past month works completed include:
- further installation of stormwater pits and pipe, from near the newsagency to the roundabout;
- concrete encasement of asbestos telecommunications lines; and
- removal of a redundant waterline.
"The installation of the stormwater pipes has continued to uncover various buried assets such as the obsolete water main and old cobblestones," Mr Rath said.
"These are being managed on a case-by-case basis as each is exposed."
Mr Rath explained the relocation of Essential Energy assets continues to be a limiting factor on the critical path.
"Pavement construction cannot commence before the electrical assets are relocated, however the approvals process for the relocation is controlled by Essential Energy," he said.
"Council have engaged a contractor to undertake a 'design and construct' to manage both the relocation and approvals process; this is now scheduled to occur in mid-March with the pavement demolition to follow quickly thereafter."
Mr Rath said Council is regularly updating the project webpage to give frequent updates to the community and enable any member of the public to ascertain the latest project information at https://grenfell-main-street-renewal-weddin.hub.arcgis.com/.
"Delivery of assets for installation has commenced with the last of the concrete pipes arriving within the next two weeks and nearly 1km of 'Draincoil' System now onsite," Mr Rath said.
"This will continue to expand as more deliveries arrive."
