Nearly a month ago two local lives were lost after a collision between a train and truck on the railway line joining Bribbaree and Quandialla.
Mr Liebich used the Mayoral Minute to ask his fellow Councillors to approve advocating to local members to ensure the safety of motorists in the hopes that the tragedy will not be repeated.
"I hereby give notice of the following for Council's next meeting, being today, that Council advocate to our local Federal member and Deputy Prime Minister the Honorable Michael McCormack MP, that flashing lights or a boom gate railway crossing be installed on the Bimbi - Morangarell rail crossing," Cr Liebich said.
The Mayor also had a second point that he wanted to move as a part of his motion to seek legislation changes for rail crossings that are on private properties.
"A second point there, to advocate to our local State member the Honorable Steph Cooke MP that legislation be changed to necessitate that all private rail crossings be fitted with stop signs and look out for train signs," Cr Liebich said.
"We do not wish for these crossings to be closed as this will inhibit the day to day operations of farmers."
The motion did not require anyone to second it as it was a Mayoral Minute, however the motion was moved unanimously.
"Thank you Councillors," the Mayor said.
The railway crossing between Quandialla and Bribbaree on the main road do not have lights or a barrier and a number of crossings on private properties do not have any signs at all as they are not required.
