Fire burns 60 hectares on Monday afternoon

South West Slopes Zone NSW Rural Fire Service said a grass fire on Henry Lawson Way has burned through an estimated 60-hectares on Monday afternoon.

Seventeen Rural Fire Service appliances were on the scene or responding along with one fixed-wing aircraft used to control the fire after 2pm on Monday.

A spokesperson for South West Slopes NSW RFS said crews were working hard to contain the fire in blustery conditions.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology the area experienced wind gusts of over 48km/h during the time of the fire.

The fire was located on a property along the Henry Lawson Way about 20km out of Young towards Grenfell.
