Second-hand toy sale: A second-hand toy sale is running now. Yes I am putting more toys out for you to borrow as well. This sale will enable me to update the collection and see properly what we have. So please support the sale to support the library.
1,000 Books before school program: For those starting kindergarten this year please have your completed logs to me by Saturday 6 March to receive your final certificates.
The next presentation day will be Saturday 13 March at 10am.
The programme encourages early-childhood literacy and introduces young children to the world of reading.
If the child attends Storytime at the Library or the Grenfell Pre-School and Long Day Care Centre, the books read will count towards the total.
Children will receive certificates as they reach the milestones of 50, 100, 250, 500, 750 and then 1,000 books to mark achievement, so when the child starts school or preschool they will not only have a handful of awards to show their teachers and classmates, they will also have a head start in learning to read and write.
Weddin Shire Book Clubs: In 2021 I am also offering those who want to create a Book Club an option to access book kits containing 10 copies of a single title. The guidelines and registration form is now available at the library. Titles that are available for Clubs only is available at https://grenfellpubliclibrary.org.au/book-clubs/ This list is currently growing. Titles so far include We are all made of glue by Marina Lewycka, The book of human skin by Michelle Lovric, Room by Emma Donoghue, The other hand by Chris Cleeve and many more.
