Forbes' Central West Livestock Exchange (CWLE) will hold its first Store Sale in three years this week with a strong livestock market and the capacity for online bidding via StockLive driving the decision.

Cassi Walmsley, Manager Livestock Exchange at Forbes Shire Council, said that while the drought had led to the temporary halt of Store Sales, Council was encouraged by the strong January results across the board and the performance of online bidding platforms like StockLive.
"Council has been planning to reinvent our Store Sales for some time and have been monitoring the market to see when the time was right," Forbes Shire Council general manager Steve Loane said.
"We've seen the strong demand and prices generated by StockLive, with online bidders lifting the price, and we see the time is right to harness that momentum for our vendors, agents and buyers.
"Prices are excellent at the moment for cattle and as the manager of the sale yards we are expecting huge interest in this platform. It will provide great benefits for the livestock industry both locally and regionally."
The Store Sale will start at 10am on Friday 19 February. Pre-sale catalogues and marketing will provide buyers with the opportunity to pre-plan.
"StockLive has cheaper fees than most other systems in the market - but in an added bonus for vendors, Council will be covering the StockLive fees for the first six sales," Mr Loane said.
"StockLive operates in conjunction with live sales and is a complimentary system with Agents support.
"Buyers need to register with StockLive and vendors need to register via an agent.
"If you are a vendor coming from a distance we do have some paddocks available for agistment until sale day.
"Get in quick though as a vendor - there is a curfew of 10pm Thursday the 18th to get your stock onto site."
As part of the first StockLive sale there will be prizes awarded for best presented pen and best pen of young cattle.
"There are some great looking cattle out there at the moment, so this is going to be hotly contested," Mr Loane said.

Regular sales will continue - this will be a complimentary option for buyers and vendors and will draw upon a much wider pool of buyers, who will be able to log on and bid from all around Australia.
CWLE Store Sales will be held monthly, with the sale of each pen streamed online.
