The Mid-Lachlan Valley NSW Rural Fire Service reported on Tuesday evening a fire west of Grenfell that was started by a lightning strike.
"Currently there are a number of thunderstorms producing significant amounts of lighting across the Mid Lachlan Valley," a Mid Lachlan Valley NSW RFS spokesperson said on Tuesday night.
"As a result, a number of fires have started including a fire west of Grenfell which has burnt over 200 hectares tonight."
The fire was brought under control very quickly thanks to a fast response from local crews.
"With the quick response from local brigades, these fires were brought under control quickly," the spokesperson said.
The thunderstorm on Tuesday evening, though not forecast, had hundreds of lightning strikes hit not only in the Weddin Shire but all across the region, creating an amazing and loud light show.
