The group announced last week that it would be forced to cancel its annual Carols in the Park and Christmas Lunch due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions that are in place.
"The Combined Churches Association of Grenfell have held a couple of meeting over a few weeks waiting to see if there was any easing of restrictions due to COVID-19," Chairman of the Combined Churches of Grenfell Pastor Rob Newton said.
"Unfortunately this has not happened, so in light of the existing restrictions, we have had to take the unprecedented action of cancelling both the Carols in the Park and the Christmas Lunch for 2020, which has always been an important part of the Christmas season in Grenfell."
The annual events are popular with locals of all ages with families making the most of the ability to join together and celebrate the Christmas season.
Under the current restrictions in place NSW residents still are not able to sing in public groups and all food that is to be prepared for a public event must be done so in one location in an industrial or industry specific kitchen, meaning the pot luck like donating of food that would usually take place at the annual Christmas Lunch isn't able to be done.
However, despite the restrictions Pastor Rob said that the committee would look forward to 2021 when they hope restrictions will be lifted.
"We are planning for a return in 2021 with the usual proud traditions for Grenfell," he said.
Pastor Rob also wanted to make the most of the opportunity to thank everyone for their support not just this year but over the previous years.
"Thank you to the community for the amazing support we usually receive and look forward to serving you next year," Pastor Rob said.
"God bless."
