The promising young pacer, trained by Rob Anderson, who owns and bred the horse with his father Clive, scored a comfortable 15.8m victory at Young on Tuesday night registering a winning mile rate of 1:59.2s over 1700m.
The result was Holy Camp Dillon's fourth career win in start 14, and his first since returning home to Grenfell after a stint up north with Queensland trainer John Boserio.
He won three in in a row at Albion Park earlier this year and finished seventh in the Group 2 South East Derby in July, but a health scare returned him home to Anderson's Grenfell stable.
"I had a few in work when he came along so we moved him on," Anderson said.
"He had a heart palpitation up in Queensland so we brought him home and he had a couple of months off. I wasn't sure if he was going to get back. I started working him and he's come around nicely. He put in a good run at Bathurst to finish third and last night at Young was good."
That third at Bathurst was on November 4 and secured his place in Friday night's final.
"He's drawn two so hopefully he can get out and hold near the front. If he looks like winning you beauty, but there's some nice horses in the race. If he's competitive that'll be enough," Anderson said.
Holy Camp Dillon is one of only two horses Anderson has in work.
"I only have time for two. I have Holy Camp Rob and this one, two is plenty," he said.
Racing at Wagga begins at 5.57pm on Friday.
