"Tidy up your front yards, pull out the weeds and enjoy the sunshine to have the chance to win a $200 prize," Weddin Shire Council Mayor Mark Liebich said.
Weddin Shire Council will be holding its Tidy Yard Competition in Grenfell, Quandialla, Caragabal, Greenethorpe and Bimbi with time left for people to get their front yards looking great for judging on Monday October 12.
With school holidays currently in effect and travellers being encouraged to visit the region, now is the perfect time to get in and get your front yard looking great and with the weather expected to warm up it is the perfect time not only for spring planting, but for some spring cleaning as well.
"With the countryside currently at its best it is proposed to endeavor to present our Shire in the best possible light," Weddin Shire Council General Manager Glen Carroll said.
"There is currently an influx of travellers to Regional areas due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Council wants to encourage these travellers to visit and stay in the Weddin Shire."
Mr Carroll said that despite some staffing issues Council will be stepping up to lead by example with their parks, gardens and the town streets as well.
"Council will also be endeavouring to ensure our Parks and Gardens, streets and footpaths are as clean and tidy as possible," Mr Carroll said.
Mr Liebich is urging residents to get involved with a fantastic prize available for the winner.
"Judging will take place on Friday, 12 October 2020 with $200 prize money available to the winners in Grenfell and each of the villages," Mr Liebich said.
