Each of the children participated in the Prayers of the Faithful
Sincere thanks to Leslie King, Sacramental Coordinator of St Joseph's Parish for preparing the children for this most important day and to Fr Allen Crowe for officiating on their special day.
Following Mass, the children were presented with their certificates by Fr Allen.
Owing to Covid -19, celebrations were restricted. Instead of the usual First Communion Cake Each communicant was presented with their own specially decorated cup-cake. Their families gathered outside church and enjoyed some beautiful individual cup-cakes made and decorated by Alicia White.
WELCOME TO THE WORLD: Jeanie Rose, daughter of Madeline and Jeremy D'Ombrain entered the world on August 24 (a few weeks early) weighing 5lbs.14oz and 47cm long.
Jeannie Rose is a much loved baby sister for Payten, Lorali and Landon. Congratulations.
SURPRIZE MEETING: Last weekend, Michael and Colleen Nealon and Terry and I travelled to Wagga to the Murrumbidgee Turf Club Race Meeting to see our horse have its second start.
On arrival, we were met by David Keough's father, Henry. Owing to Covid restrictions numbers were limited at the meeting with social; distancing being enforced.
Prior to our race we were pleasantly surprised to meet up with former Grenfell residents, Steve and Mary Bowerman now of Cooma.
The Bowermans also had a horse in the same race as ours and were winners on the day.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD. Joyce Baker, the local contact for Operation Christmas Child/Samaritan's Purse wishes to thank the local organisations, churches and volunteers who have once again come on board to assist with this project.
Over the past few weeks community and church groups have been busy packing the shoe boxes in readiness for posting.
Volunteers and friends of the Uniting Church were photographed on Tuesday as the began the task of packing.
GRENFELL ART GALLERY: "Kaleidoscope" an exhibition not to be missed opened September 04. This outstanding exhibition will run till October 14. "Kaleidoscope" is a group of five contemporary textile and fibre artists based in the Blue Mountains.
Petal Davies - Free machine embroidery, Ellen King - Felting, Mandy McAlister- Fibre art, Barbara Morris - Contemporary hand embroidery, and Barbara Veitch - Contemporary machine embroidery.
Their work includes contemporary machine and hand embroidery and felting in sculptural and 2D form.
"I enjoy a connection with Grenfell as I have relatives here and have been visiting for the past twenty years to teach Patchwork and Quilting. I have also brought ladies from the Blue Mountains and surrounding areas here for many weekend retreats" exhibition organiser Petal Davies said.
The gallery is open daily Monday to Friday 10am -4pm, Saturday 10am - 3pm and Sunday 10am - 2pm
SINCERE SYMPATHY: Joan Brown, wife of the late Dr Trevor Brown passed away suddenly on September 18. Catherine said, "My parents reared their young family (Geraldine, Dominic, Catherine, Christopher (dec), Kevin and Felicity (dec) (and Simon after leaving) from 1958-67 in Grenfell, while Trevor worked as a GP."
Her parents had many happy memories of their days in Grenfell and the friendships formed. Sympathy is also extended to the families who have lost loved ones recently including Josephine Helena 'Lana' Pertovt, Kevin Charles Goodsell, Paul Gerard 'Yogi' Harris, Quandialla and former residents John Dunkling (5/8/20) of Palmer's Island and Terrence Anthony 'Splinter' Mulquiney. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
